Huskies Fall to Wilmington in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team lost to Wilmington University on Wednesday afternoon, 61-41, at the Nelson Field House.
The two teams started slowly in the game with the Huskies trailing by one, 6-5, with 14:04 left in the first half following a three-pointer by Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts). Bloomsburg then got hot and put together a 14-4 run over the next seven minutes to take a 19-10 lead with Healy connecting on two more three-pointers.
The Lady Cats, though, rallied and used a 14-4 run of their own to go in front at halftime, 24-23, with Jamie Gallagher hitting two, three-pointers.
Gallagher continued her hot shooting in the early part of the second half hitting two more three-pointers in the first seven minutes of the half to put the visitors on top, 39-28. Bloomsburg cut the lead back to 10 points, 41-31, after a Monica Dennison (Zion Grove/Hazleton Area) free throw with 10:46 to play. However,the Lady Cats used a 20-7 over the next nine minutes to pull away and eventually settled for the 61-41 victory.
Bloomsburg, 4-7, got 12 points from Healy and 11 points from Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) in the loss. Wilmington, now 7-4, got 20 points from Amelia Simons and 17 from Gallagher.
The Huskies host California (PA) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.
